Higher Edge offices in New London and Willimantic are currently closed in accordance with Governor Lamont’s “Stay Safe, Stay Home” executive order. However, our advisors are continuing to work with students via text, email and video calls. High school seniors are completing their scholarship applications, and are continuing to receive their college acceptance letters and financial aid packages. Soon, after reviewing their options with their advisor, each senior will make their college decision with their families.
College students in the Success Program have had to adapt to the challenges imposed by campus closures. They are completing work online, are planning their fall class schedules, and are applying for available summer internships. Seventeen Success Program students are expected to graduate in May 2020.
Our advisors are committed to ensuring that seniors complete the college application process in a timely manner, and that college students remain on track to graduate. They have also been inspired by our colleagues, and are finding creative ways via social media to keep students’ spirits lifted during this time.
The Caps & Gowns event is our biggest fundraiser of the year. We need your support to strengthen programming for all of our students. Therefore, please consider making a donation today, and next year, join us on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Hilton Mystic for our 10th Anniversary Caps & Gowns Dinner.
We look forward to celebrating each student’s decision and college achievements in the future. In the meantime . . .
Stay Safe, Stay Home, and Stay Connected!
Warm Regards –
In June 2019, community leaders, students, families and friends attended Higher Edge’s Inaugural Caps & Gowns Event to celebrate 21 Higher Edge Success Program students who graduated from college and to honor Higher Edge Founder Chris Soto! It was a wonderful, heartfelt evening as students shared their stories and achievements. Many thanks to our event sponsors who made the evening possible: Atlantic Broadband, Chelsea Groton Bank, Connecticut College, Dominion Energy, Eastern Connecticut State University and L& M Hospital.
